TUESDAY FEBRUARY 3
Barbara Klar
Barbara Klar lives northwest of Saskatoon. She is the author of two
previous collections of poetry and the winner of the Gerald Lampert Award.
She is also the author of a chapbook from JackPine Press. She will be on
tour promoting her third book, Cypress (Brick Books).
Richard Sanger
Richard Sanger has published two collections of poetry, Shadow Cabinet
(Signal) and Calling Home (Signal). His poems have appeared in
publications such as the London Review of Books, the Times Literary
Supplement, and the anthology The New Canon. His play, Two Words for Snow,
was shortlisted for the 2005 Governor General's Award.
Neal McLeod
Neal McLeod is a writer, artist and film-maker. He holds a PhD in
Indigenous Studies and currently teaches at Trent University. His first
book, Songs to Kill a Wihtikow (Hagios Press) won the 2006 National
Aboriginal Poetry Award. He will be celebrating his second poetry book,
Gabriel's Beach (Hagios Press). Many of the poems are about his
grandfather's war experiences told from a Métis perspective.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 10
Joanne Arnott
Joanne Arnott is a Métis writer originally from Winnipeg and currently
living in Richmond BC. She has lived in Musqueam traditional territories
on the west coast since 1982. Her first book, Wiles of Girlhood (Press
Gang) won the Gerald Lampert Award. Her most recent poetry book is Mother
Time: Poems New and Selected (Ronsdale Press).
Jim Johnstone
Jim Johnstone is a two time winner of the E.J.Pratt Medal and Prize in
Poetry. His poetry has appeared in such journals as The Antigonish Review,
Descant and the Malahat Review. He is the editor of Misunderstandings
Magazine. He will be celebrating his first poetry book, Velocity of Escape
(Guernica Editions).
Sue Reynolds
Sue Reynolds has had poems in Opus 3, Signatures, The Book of Thighs, and
Lichen Literary Journal. She is the author of one chapbook, skinned
(CreativeJames Publishing), and she teaches creative writing at Durham
College. She hosts a monthly writing sanctuary/retreat at her home in the
Oak Hills Moraine.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 17
Mitchell Parry
Mitchell Parry won the 2002 Antigonish Review's Poetry Contest. His first
book of poetry, Tacoma Narrows, was a finalist for the Gerald Lampert
Award and the City of Victoria Butler Book Prize. He divides his time
between Victoria, where he teaches film studies at UVic, and Pender Island
where he lives with his partner, poet Marlene Cookshaw. He will be on tour
celebrating his new book, Imperfect Penance (Gooselane Editions).
Kyle Buckley
Kyle Buckley lives and writes in Toronto. He studied at York and the
University of Calgary. He currently works at Type Books and is a member of
the Scream Literary Festival executive. He is a past winner of the
now-defunct Queen Street Quarterly poetry contest. He will be celebrating
his first book, The Laundromat Essay (Coach House Books).
D.S. Martin
D.S. Martin is the author of two poetry collections. His chapbook, So the
Moon Would Not Be Swallowed(Rubicon Press), received an Award of Merit
from The Word Guild. His first full collection is titled, Poiema and is
published by Wipf and Stock; Eugene Oregon. He lives in Brampton, Ontario.
