TUESDAY APRIL 7

Mark Goldstein
Mark Goldstein's poems have appeared in periodicals such as Matrix and
echolocation. An avid small presser, he has issued limited edition books
under the Beautiful Outlaw imprint. He is the author of After Rilke
(BookThug) and a book of Celan translations titled, TRACELANGUAGE
(BookThug).

Oana Avasilichioaei
Oana Avasilichioaei is a poet and translator (French and Romanian). She
will be celebrating her second poetry book, feria: a poempark (Wolsak and
Wynn). She lives in Montreal where she coordinates the Atwater Poetry
Project Reading Series.

Philip Quinn
Philip Quinn's work has appeared in such magazines as sub-Terrain,
blood+aphorisms, The White Wall Review, Kiss Machine and Broken Pencil.
Jay Millar's Book Thug Press published his first collection of poetry
titled, The Subway in the fall of 2008. He is also the author of two
published novels. He lives in Toronto.


TUESDAY APRIL 14

Art Bar Discovery Night Winner - Nichola Ward
Nichola Ward was born in London UK and lives in Toronto where she is a
writer and performer. She is the founder of the publishing and performance
group Ground Queero and a member of the writers group OUTwrites. She is
the author of "Little Sarah - Wordkeeper" and "Babylon Alley - A Play for
Voices".

Alice Major
Edmonton resident Alice Major is the author of eight poetry collections.
The most recent book is The Office Tower Tales (University of Alberta
Press). Previous collections have been shortlisted for the City of
Edmonton Book Prize, and the Pat Lowther Award. She has won the Malahat
Review Long Poem Contest, the Shaunt Basmajian Chapbook Contest, and
Broken Jaw Press' Poets Corner Award. She has served as president of the
League of Canadian Poets, and the 2005-2007 poet laureate for the city of
Edmonton.

Asher Ghaffar
Asher Ghaffar's first book of poetry, "Wasps in a Golden Dream Hum a
Strange Music," is published with ECW Press. His work has been featured in
LITERARY REVIEW OF CANADA, THE NEW QUARTERLY, CV2, LICHEN ARTS AND LETTERS
PREVIEW, dANDelion, DOUBLE ROOM, and other journals. He is the recipient
of recent grants from The Canada Council for the Arts and Ontario Arts
Council. Currently Asher is working on an experimental novel, in addition
to a doctoral degree in social and political thought at York University.


TUESDAY APRIL 21

Glen Downie
Glen Downie is the author of six collections of poetry. His most recent
book titled, Loyalty Management (Wolsak and Wynn) won the 2008 Toronto
Book Award. It is the first time since 1999 that a book of poetry has
taken the $11,000 prize which is awarded annually to a book of literary or
artistic merit evocative of Toronto. Glen Downie was the first poet to
serve as Medical Humanities Writer-in-Residence at Dalhousie University
Medical School (1999). He is currently a stay-at-home father.

Robert Colman
Robert Colman is a writer and editor based in Newmarket, Ontario. His
poems have appeared in literary journals including The Malahat Review,
Arc, CV2 and The Fiddlehead. His first full-length collection of poems,
The Delicate Line, was published in November 2008 by Exile Editions.

Cynthia Gould
Cynthia Gould is a performance poet, painter, musician, and co-writer of
Some Words Spoken. She's been on two spoken word tours, was shortlisted in
the 2004 Three Day Novel Contest, and writes songs through her pop-rock

Robert Moore
Robert Moore lives in Saint John NB. He has been an actor, a director, and
a playwright as well as a poet. Previous poetry collections have been
nominated for both the Atlantic Poetry Prize and the John Savage First
Book Award. He will be on tour celebrating his latest book, Figuring
Ground (Wolsak and Wynn).

Barbara Pelman
Barbara Pelman lives in Victoria BC where she is active in the writing
community: as a member of the Random Acts of Poetry team, a regular reader
at Planet Earth Poetry, and the instigator of Victoria's "Poetry Walls".
She is coming on a publisher's promotion tour for her second book of
poetry, Borrowed Rooms (Ronsdale Press).

Jeanette Lynes
Jeanette Lynes lives in Nova Scotia where she co-edits the Antigonish
Review. In 2001 she won the Bliss Carman Award for Poetry (Banff
Centre/Prairie Fire). Her third book, Left Fields (Wolsak and Wynn), was a
finalist for the Pat Lowther Award. She will coming on a publisher's
promotion tour for her fifth book, The New Blue Distance (Wolsak and
Wynn).
