TUESDAY MAY 5

Sonia di Placido
Sonia di Placido is a graduate of the Ryerson Theatre School and has
directed and performed in collective theatre ensembles. She holds a
post-graduate certificate in Magazine Publishing. She is the author of
Vulva Magic (LyricalMyrical Press) and Forest Primitive (Aeolus House
Chapbooks). She lives in Toronto.

Robert Bringhurst
Robert Bringhurst is a poet, linguist, and typographer. His many
collections of poetry include, The Old and Their Knowing (2006); Selected
Poems 1970-1995; and Pieces of Map, Pieces of Music (1987). He has
translated the works of Haida storytellers, and he has written a text on
typographic design titled, The Elements of Typographic Style. His most
recent book of poetry is The Tree of Meaning (Gaspereau Press). He lives
on Quadra Island, BC.

Shane Neilson
Shane Neilson was born in New Brunswick and attended medical school at
Dalhousie University and Memorial University. He is the author of several
books including two poetry chapbooks and the non-fiction title, Call Me
Doctor (Pottersfield Press). His poetry has been nominated for a National
Magazine Award. His most recent poetry book is Exterminate My Heart (Frog
Hollow Press). He lives in Guelph.


TUESDAY MAY 12

Chris Pannell
Chris Pannell lives in Hamilton where he is involved in organizing the
LiTLiVe reading series and the gritLIT festival. He is the author of Sorry
I Spent Your Poem (Watershed Books) and Under Old Stars (Seraphim
Editions). He will be celebrating his third poetry book, Drive (Wolsak and
Wynn).

Nyla Jean Matuk
Nyla Jean Matuk was born in Winnipeg and educated in Ottawa and Montreal
where she obtained an MA in English Literature from McGill. She has lived
in Toronto since 1995 and works as a freelance editor and journalist. Her
work has appeared in such publications as Canadian Architect, The Globe
and Mail, and Toronto Life. Her writing has appeared in such journals as
Event, Room of One's Own, and Descant. She will be celebrating her new
poetry collection, Oneiric (Frog Hollow Press).

Pasha Malla
Pasha Malla was born in St. John's NL, grew up in London ON and now lives
in Toronto. His writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Maisonneuve,
and McSweeney's, among other publications. He has been twice included in
the Journey Prize Stories, and he has been featured on CBC Radio's
Definitely Not the Opera. He is the author of The Withdrawal Method
(Anansi Press). He will be celebrating his new poetry book, All Our
Grandfathers are Ghosts (Snare Books).


TUESDAY MAY 19

Brian Campbell
Brian Campbell is a singer/songwriter and poet living in Montreal. He
published his first book of poetry in 1994 titled, Guatemala & Other
Poems, with Window Press. His poetry has appeared in such journals as
Grain, The New Quarterly and the Antigonish Review. He will be celebrating
his new book of prose poems, Passenger Flight (Signature Editions).

Edward Nixon
Edward Nixon was born in Victoria and has lived in Toronto since the mid
1980s. He is the author of two chapbooks: Nights in the City of the Dead
(Aeolus House, 2006); Arguments for Breath (lyricalmyrical, 2007). He
programs and hosts the monthly reading series livewords. He will be
celebrating his third chapbook, Free Translation (Cactus Press).

Joe Rosenblatt
Poet/painter Joe Rosenblatt was born in Toronto in 1933. In 1966 his first
book, L.S.D. Leacock was published by Coach House Press. Since then he has
published more than 20 books of poetry complete with his own
illustrations. His Selected Poems (1962-1975) won the Governor-General's
Award. His most recent book, Dog (Mansfield Press), a collaboration on the
sonnet form with poet Catherine Owen, is on the theme of homeless Havana
dogs. He lives in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island with his wife Faye, a
piano teacher.


TUESDAY MAY 26

Mike Lipsius
Mike Lipsius began reading his poetry around the city of Toronto in 2006
and since then has featured at the Patio Plays and What are You Doing Down
There? theatre festivals, the Plasticine Poetry Series, Hot Sauced Words,
and Cryptic Chatter. His poetry has appeared in anthologies by Palabras
Press. He studied journalism at Loyalist College in Belleville ON.

Matthew Tierney
Matthew Tierney is the author of full speed through the morning dark
(Wolsak and Wynn, 2004). In 2005 he won both 1st and 2nd prize in This
Magazine's Great Canadian Literary Hunt. In 2006 he was a recipient of a
K.M.Hunter Award. He will be celebrating his second poetry book, The
Hayflick Limit (Coach House Books). He lives in Toronto.

Kate Braid
Kate Braid lives in Burnaby BC. For many years she worked as a qualified
carpenter and ran her own construction firm, Sisters Construction, doing
renovations and building new houses. She also holds an MFA in Creative
Writing. She is the author of three books of poetry including Covering
Rough Ground (Polestar) which won the Pat Lowther Award. She will be
celebrating her fourth book, A Well-mannered Storm: The Glen Gould Poems
(Caitlin Press).
